BEGINNERS - How to backshot when float fishing

Another key element of float fishing is to get the mainline between the float and the rod under the water (sinking your line), this is especially true when out in windy conditions where you can end up with your line catching the breeze, and the float being pulled un-naturally out of place dragging the bait with it !

We at fishingfools are trying a method called "back shotting" - this is where a very small shot (#8 ideally, or a #6) is placed a few inches from the float on the main line leading to the rod (point A).  The idea we think is to aid the sinking of the line by placing some extra weight to pull the main line through the water surface tension.

The other option we've read about is to carry some detergent to clean the mainline when it becomes greasy and won't sink - but as beginners were trying the easy option first ! can you imagine trying to unravel the line on the bank side and cleaning it with a cloth - no neither could we Tongue out
