So you've finally purchased that shiny centre pin reel that has been taunting you in the shop window, but you're now a little hesitant about how to cast with it.  Well this Fishing Fools video shops a basic flick cast, that will get you in the right position to progress onto the more challenging Wallace Cast.

To use this cast, start with your offhand pinch fingers (thumb, and first finger) pinching the hook length around 12 inches from the hook, then with your other hand tighten the line using your thumb against the centre pin.   The cast is a basic flick of the rod, while dropping the bait...don't try to go more then the length of your rod from the bank at this stage, else you will end up with knots.  Keep practicing this cast until you can easily get the float out into the stream, and it feels comfortable to cast.

All casting in this video was performed using the Greys Bewick Centrepin
