Well I have been trying for some time to hit my target fish that I set on this site some time ago. Cool

The fish I was targeting was a double figured Carp. There have been many attempted tries including a 9lb Common carp on a waggler fished piece of meat.

There have also been a number of night fishing attempts that have been done at night but these have all been rather unsuccessful.

It was on a short afternoon session at a small venue when I hit my target.  I arrived and decided to stick to basics and setup my Drennan Carp float rod. I used a 2.5gram waggler and setup my 8lb main line with a 6lb hook length of around 6 inches.  I was using a rather large piece of luncheon meat as bait.

I was greatly surprised when on my 2nd cast the float went under and I was fight with a large fish for about 5 minutes, when this was landed I excitingly got the scales out but found it was just shy of the double figure I was looking for.

After about 30 minutes the float again went under and the fight was amazing I could not pull the fish to the surface for some time. When I managed to land the fish I again got the scales ready and this time it came in at exactly 12 lbs.

And that was it I had hit my target and it is now time to set another. This time I am setting a target of a river fish, the Chub hopefully some cheese paste will do the job on my Drennan Quiver.
