The float fishing has been going really well, I'm really surprised how exciting I'm finding watching this small orange blip on the water - the results are getting better to ! with a positive increase in the size of fish being caught - well it's not that hard to catch something bigger then my first catch.
however, it does feel like the rig I'm using, and my perception of a strike are struggling to hook that elusive "BIG" fish.

Reading on the web, the natural progression seems to be to try out some more advanced bates, and setups for the float rig - To prepare I've taken a trip down the local tackle shop to pickup some "Pellets" - Not an experience for the faint hearted let me tell you ! ! The maggots were bad enough with the choice of white or red - Pellets entered a whole new technical level that was well above my understanding ! there were different sizes from 4mm to 20mm / consistency of mushy, soft to hard / colour - yes is was like a Dulux colour wheel
/ and a range of flavours that would make a Michelin Star restaurant envious - In the end I plumped for some 6mm / Dark Red / Moist / Strawberry Pellets and some 8mm / Brown / Hard / Crab Pellets that were pre-drilled - slightly concerned about the 6mm ones not being drilled as my Black and Decker isn't cordless, and it's gonna be a bugger on the fingers...Oh well....
Anyway, to go with this new bait, I've also purchased some "bait bands" and "hair stops" to keep the pellets on the hook, plus some new size 16 hooks pre-tied to nylon in a "hair rigged" configuration - also under the advice of the tackle shop I've bought some "mira coils" to nylon, that look like some medieval torture device - not to sure what to do with these yet ! ...The plan is to try these pellets out using the float life method, to get a better indication of bites and catch that elusive 2-6lb'er

I can't wait to put these bad boys to the test - I might need a bigger landing net ! anyway, catch ya later
