For once the weekend weather forecast was sort of correct ! the predicted rain showers did happen, with the bonus of some sleet at times on the Sunday...dam it was cold...not even the thermals kept the chill out !
very exciting though, as I got to put my new purchase - the Korum Day Session Shelter II through it's paces.
So what do you get ?
The shelter got delivered in a brown rectangular cardboard box...Once you've ripped through all the packaging tape, you'll find the shelter all snugly wrapped up in a green Korum waterproof carry bag with handles positioned in the middle, and an end toggle to tie it up.
Inside the bag you have "The Day Session Shelter II", 2 x top adjustable tension bars, 1 x spiked adjustable rear tension bar (all in separate pole bag), 1 x bag of ground pegs, plus some instructions
First Impressions
Wow, The main thing that strikes you when first unpacking the shelter is the quality it exudes - the material used for the canvas looks very dense and robust, and not likely to suffer from you sticking your finger through it if you press to hard ! All the stitching was spot on, the webbing felt quality, and the connections of the poles to the fabric would easily see the shelter through numerous sessions of usage. The poles and pegs came in a separate bag, made out of the same sort of material the shelter uses, with tie up ends - The pegs were "very" sharp, they came shipped with rubber protectors over the ends which I assume is to stop them piercing the canvas...
Putting up the Shelter
So now the real challenge ! putting the shelter up for the first time - now that I've been through the process once, I'm confident that I can have the whole shelter put up in around 3-5 minutes - putting together the poles takes around 10 seconds as it's just a matter of shaking the shelter to help the poles snap into place, the bit that takes the time is fitting the rear and side poles, and the pegging down the shelter - overall I'm really impressed how quick this thing is to put up ! there really is nothing to do apart from unpack and peg down...certainly won't be needing to use the instructions again
