For someone who spends most of his time tapping away on a keyboard, like most people, and then getting home to play the latest version of the latest shoot em’ up I thought it was well past the time to seek a more active interest. Now I have tried them all, the obvious football, cricket, golf and for the extreme, kayaking of which I still continue to do today, but whilst in some daze lost in Internet surfing I came across an old interest of mine fishing.
Now to be honest I can hardly remember fishing in my youth it’s been 20 years or so, please note I’m not that old really (no really I’m not
). Even though I can’t remember fishing I can remember the old fishing rods I used all those years back but after days of looking through my home and spending hours on the phone to my father I came to the conclusion that mother must have forced me to throw them out many years ago, dam another one of those mum please don’t make me throw out my old star wars toys disagreements.
Whilst searching the Net for fishing information, how to get started, beginners guide and so on I found that to learn fishing is actually a rather expensive hobby there’s equipment costs, lesson costs and not forgetting the licensees. Rather than paying some expert fisherman to help me get to know the ropes I thought it would be much easier if I just got a fishing rod and chose a day to go, this was all to my wife’s disgust, I’m far to immature to go fishing on my own I’ll will only need some form of medical attention by the end of the day.
Whilst at work I thought maybe a friend would be tempted in to visiting a fishing shop, I already knew that my friend was a country buff and if I was lucky he may even know how to fish, you’ll just never know how wrong I was, it’s been a bit like the blind leading the blind but I do now have a fishing buddy. Anyway after work we drove of to a fairly local fishing shop. Now in this shop we obviously looked extremely clueless as the shop keeper popped his head round the corner and asked us what we were looking for, he was actually rather nice and gave us allsorts of advice, most of it over our heads, but he did manage to find us a bargain starter kit for float fishing.
What we were given was a Zensorflex match rod, with an Okuma razor reel and line, we also got some floats, hooks, weights almost enough to get started.
Now with our new rods with are ready to start fishing but I let you all know about that in another post. For those of you still reading I will say one thing if you are interested in fishing and don’t know where to start I would say go for broke and dive in head first like myself, it was fun getting the rods, I’ve spent hours researching how to use my new fishing tackle, and I write up some information in the near future, and I’m really looking forward to fishing for the first time.
Any way catch you all soon.
